SDHS May Meeting – Dr. Sarah Alaniz on Reptiles, Amphibians & Biomedical Research
Date & Time: Tuesday, May 19th, 7:00 PM
Location: Balboa Park – Prado Classroom 104, San Diego, CA
Details:
Join the San Diego Herpetological Society for our May monthly meeting as we welcome Dr. Sarah Alaniz, a laboratory animal veterinarian at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies.
Dr. Alaniz will highlight how reptiles and amphibians have played significant roles in biomedical research. The unique features of frogs, salamanders, lizards, snakes, and turtles make them valuable models for understanding development, healing, disease, and environmental impacts on the health of both humans and animals.
This presentation aims to bridge herpetology and biomedical science, illustrating how the study of these remarkable animals contributes to both conservation awareness and advances in medicine.
This is an excellent opportunity for members, students, families, and wildlife enthusiasts to learn more about the connection between reptiles, amphibians, science, and medicine.
