SDHS Monthly Member Meeting: Tuesday, February 18th at 7:00 PM

Speaker:
SDSU Grad Student Leah Carpenter

Master's student researching the fine-scale behavior and thermal ecology of Phrynosoma mcalli (Flat-tailed horned lizard) in El Centro, CA.

Topic: "Life in the Colorado Desert: The Flat-Tailed Horned Lizard and its Behavior"

Overview:

Leah is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at SDSU, where she works with Rulon Clark on describing the behavior of the Flat-Tailed Horned Lizard using advanced biologging techniques. Her work focuses on understanding how individual and population-level behaviors can inform broader environmental issues, especially concerning species of special concern like the FTHL.

In this talk, Leah will discuss:

  • Her fieldwork conducted in the Colorado Desert over the past year
  • Early findings about the FTHL and its unique behavior
  • The impact of biodiversity loss on species like the FTHL and what it tells us about conservation

We encourage everyone to attend to learn about this important research and hear directly from an expert in the field of conservation biology.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Please RSVP above
