Our
in-class or on-site programs run from 40 – 60 minutes and can be geared
for any age. All presentations conform to California Education Standards.
We offer 6 basic formats with customization available for an additional
fee.
A.) Native
species of reptiles, amphibians (with a few arachnids and arthropods as
they relate to herps.) We always bring a 1 or 2 commonly found invasive
species during native talks and discuss their impact on native wildlife
during the program.** Cost: $75 per presentation Duration: 45 – 60
minutes
B.) Exotic
Reptile Species – with hands on encounters with endangered species!**
Cost: $75 per presentation Duration: 45 – 60 minutes
**For
hands-on opportunities in these 2 programs we limit class size to 25.
If we are selecting just a handful of children to interact, we can
accommodate larger classes.
C.) 2008
is the international Year of the Frog. Amphibians are in global crisis.
We face extinction of ½ of the 6000 known species of amphibians in our
lifetime! Not since the days of dinosaurs has such a mass species wipe
out been faced. We offer a Power Point Talk on the Amphibian Crisis (with
or without) live display specimens – as this is a global concern with
local impact. We address the 5 key issues impacting amphibian survival in
the world today and offer an array of hands-on, get involved type
solutions. This program is suitable for assemblies or classrooms. There
is no group size limit. Cost: $100 (Equipment requirement: LCD
Projector) Duration 60 minutes – 90 minutes with Q&A session
D.) Field Work – At
certain times of the day/year we can also offer field herping
(reptile/amphibian observation) opportunities at your location (or other
designated locals) – the field opportunities are limited to a maximum of
12 individuals. Cost: To be determined. Duration:
Typically 2 hours.
E.)
Education Booths (for community/large scale events) – hosted by San Diego
Herpetological Members. Live animals on display with public interactions
available with limited species. Cost based on duration of event.
F.)
Birthday/Special Occasion Parties hosted at your site – A 45 minute
hands-on “educational entertainment” presentation with a special Hands-on
Photo and SDHS reptile related gift for the guest of honor. Cost: $195
Duration: 60 minutes (includes photo-op time for guest of honor)
