Adoptions

Owning a reptile or amphibian is a rewarding experience, however, each animal deserves proper conditions and care.  Please do not purchase an animal without first educating yourself about its care and requirements.  Be aware that an animal's needs change as it ages and grows in size.  And some exotics can live very long lives, making their care a long-term commitment.  There are many sources of information available in hard copy and online for almost any animal you may choose to add enjoyment to your life.

The San Diego Herpetological Society recognizes that sometimes people find themselves with an unwanted amphibian or reptile for legitimate reasons.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you find yourself in this situation.  We have a network of rescue and placement specialists that will do their best to assist in cases where reptiles need new homes and special care.

Foster care

Members with expertise are encouraged to help "Foster Care" recent rescues until they can be placed.  It can be a difficult assignment.  Many rescues need veterinary care and extensive special attention before they can be considered for placement.  Please contact the Adoptions Coordinator if you have the ability to help.

PayPal Donations

We are accepting monthly donations for the care of rescued animals through our PayPal account.  Contact our President at susan@reptigreens.com for more information.
